Blue Ridge Mountain Beauty

Asheville, NC keeps showing up on those "best of" lists—best domestic travel destination, best places to live, best food scene, best beer towns. We'd like to add another: it's one of NextTribe's favorite U.S. cities to visit. Our founder Jeannie Ralston moved to Asheville two years ago and has fallen head over heels for this city tucked into the Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina. As someone who loves planning the perfect trip, Jeannie has put together something really special after exploring every corner of her new hometown.

Spring is an ideal time to visit Asheville. The whole city comes alive with blooms, and the gardens at Biltmore Estate are absolutely stunning.

We have easy, interest-free payment options.

Jeannie will introduce you to award-winning restaurants that are putting Asheville on the culinary map. You'll meet local writers at a cozy gathering and connect with an artist in the vibrant River Arts District. We'll head into the woods on a foraging adventure to find ingredients for our dinner, take an easy hike along the famous Blue Ridge Parkway, and—naturally—explore the magnificent Biltmore Estate.

Please note that this is a sample itinerary. Accommodations and activities may change but we will always replace them with something of equal or better value.

5 Reasons We Love This Trip

  1. The Blue Ridge Mountains. Everywhere you look, there's another gorgeous view. It really is purple mountain majesty come to life.

  2. Foraging in the woods. This goes way beyond a typical nature walk. Expert guides will show us how to spot the best wild treats—mushrooms, nuts, wild greens, berries (whatever's in season). Then our finds get turned into part of our dinner at one of the city's top restaurants.

  3. Art and literature with locals. The River Arts District took a hit from Hurricane Helene, but it's bouncing back strong. We'll support the community by visiting a gallery for a hands-on collaging class with a talented local artist. Plus, we'll gather with area writers on a beautiful patio to hear some wonderful stories while the mountain breeze keeps us company.

  4. Historic grandeur. Beyond touring the Biltmore Estate—America's largest private home—we'll sip sunset cocktails at the equally impressive Grove Park Inn, another piece of Asheville history.

  5. Great company. Every NextTribe trip brings together interesting women who often become fast friends and future travel companions.

FRIDAY, April 24th
Day 1 image

Welcome to Asheville

Plan to arrive at the Kimpton Arras Hotel by 4 pm. If your flight gets in later, no worries—the hotel is smack in the middle of downtown and we'll get you connected with the group wherever we are.

Jeannie will show you what makes this city so popular, starting with some of her go-to spots like the beloved Malaprops Bookstore and the classic lunchcounter at the old Woolworth's, now an art gallery.

We'll toast our arrival at the Battery Park Book Exchange & Champagne Bar in the historic Grove Arcade. If you're up for it, we might catch the lively Friday Night Drum Circle happening right downtown.

Dinner will be at one of Jeannie's favorite local restaurants.

Time to go "off the eaten path"! We'll join a well-known foraging company to hunt for wild edibles—nuts, berries, mushrooms, and more. You'll get to taste some finds right on the trail, and the rest will head to a partner restaurant to become part of tonight's dinner.

Lunch will be downtown, followed by a fun stop at Asheville's pinball museum.

Afternoon Free Time

Later, we'll meet at a River Arts District gallery for a mini collaging workshop with a local artist. You'll create your own piece to take home.

Tonight's dinner features our morning foraging discoveries—truly eating local.

We're heading to the mountains via the scenic Blue Ridge Parkway, where the views just keep coming. We'll do a short, easy hike and find a good look out spot. (Not interested in hiking? We have other nature options right in town.)

Afterward, we'll visit Maggie Marshall's home in West Asheville for a catered lunch and readings by local women writers.

The Omni Grove Park Inn has been welcoming guests since 1913. This stunning stone resort, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, has hosted everyone from presidents to celebrities drawn by the mountain beauty.

We'll end the day with dinner at a local favorite.

NextTribe

For most of history, women past child-bearing years were basically put out to pasture. This was happening even in our mothers’ time. We call bullshit on that. We believe we are at a peak in so many ways and are devoted to helping women our age live the richest, most kick-ass lives possible.

We do that by informing, promoting and connecting women–through our magazine, through our member community and through the transformative experiences of travel.

So many travel choices…so little time. You could spend days and days trying to put together just the right combination of destination, activities, and price.

Or you could stop shopping and start traveling with us for something that feels like the greatest girlfriend trip ever–even if you come solo. We specialize in experiences that deeply connect you to other women–travelers and locals–and create life-lasting memories. Experiences you can’t get on your own. And do it all with flexible payment options.

This video will tell you if you’re a good fit for a NextTribe trip. We are proud that we’ve become known for how quickly and deeply our groups of women bond on our trips. One of our rules: No divas, please.
